The Full Collection of Pillsbury Bake-Off Books

Yes, isn’t this amazing!?  It is every Bake-Off book since the first one in 1949.  The only one missing is the new one which will have the $1 million prize-winning recipe!  You can find out who wins tomorrow on Oprah.  Then I will have to go take another photo!

P.S.  See the 3rd book from the left here at the bottom?  My daughter Kristina’s recipe is on the cover!

Hi Rosemary- I have found the best ways to find the Bake-Off books (and many other cookbooks) is at used book stores, antique stores, cookbook stores like Kitchen Witch in New Orleans or Bonnie Slotnick cookbooks in New York both which you can call and they will do a search for you and mail them to you; or on eBay or Etsy. The Pillsbury website will be of no help. I hope you can find them!

Those don’t exist. Pillsbury retooled and scaled down the contest after the 46th and stopped making the cookbooks.

I will use your contacts you provided…
Pillsbury ???????I contacted them & behold !!!!!! I agree with you, they were not
helpful for being a publishing business…However, I will pursue.
    Have a wonderful week-end.

    Hi,
I don’t know if you received my reply…so therefore submitting
it again. Congratulations for your daughter to be published
on the cover of the Bake off. What # Bake off was it?
    Have a good day.

Hi Rosemary – Yes, I received your reply but I haven’t checked my mail for a couple days because I’m still visiting my granddaughter’s and they have been keeping me busy! I sent you an email a few days ago, but maybe it went to your spam folder? To answer your question about my daughter Kristina’s recipe on the Bake-Off cover, it was Bake-Off #39 in 2000.

I donated my old collection of bakeoff cookbooks to Goodwill and oh how I wish I had them back. Right now I’m looking for a recipe from one of them called “Cheese Crusted Flat Bread”.
It’s not really flatbread, because it’s made with yeast, but it’s so good – I made it for many years, but have forgotten the recipe. If anyone has the book it’s in, I’d be very grateful if you could share the recipe!

Hi Bonnie – Do you remember approximately what year it would have been, or which Bake-Off, or even maybe what was on the cover? That would help in the search.

I am looking for a bar recipe that would have been on the cover of a 1965-1975 edition. The base of the bar was a shortbread type, the top part was kind of toffee colored and they were topped with slivered almonds. Any help would be fabulous. Thank you.

    Hi Debbie,
Great collection!! I was wondering if you could help me out. I have been looking for a recipe that I used to make all of the time. I have found the cover , but cannot find the actual bake off cookbook. I believe it was #38. And, the recipe was Chocolate Passion Torte, it had a chocolate lattice on the top and a brownie bottom with crushed oreos, and a chocolate moose with oreos, and white chocolate candy bar. I used to take this to church functions and always made it for birthdays. We have moved a couple of times and I have lost this book and recipe. I have searched all over the internet to no avail. Praying you can help me locate the recipe or at least verify which issue it is in. Would have been around issue #37. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Sincerely, Patty Bryan

I have the entire collection of the bake-off cookbooks from my Mom. I no longer want them.
Best way/place to sell them? I am moving soon.

    • May 19, 2021 at 8:45 pm #

Pat, I would guess eBay. I will also be happy to ask some people I know who might be interested. What price did you have in mind? If you like, you can email me at [email protected]

Hello, I’m traveling can don’t have access to a beloved recipe. I believe it’s in the 11th (1959) cookbook, and called “Chocolate Speckled Sponge Cake” by a woman from Bismarck, ND. Many thanks if you can find a way to get me the ingredients list—I remember the instructions well.

Around the time of the tunnel of fudge cake and the graham cracker cake, there was one called Cherry Almond Fudge. I used to make it for my now deceased husband’s birthday. When downsizing to move, I got rid of several of my cookbook collection. My family has asked for the cake again, but I’ve not been successful finding it online. Just wondering if you remember it. It was a layer cake with cherry pie filling between the layers.

I am hoping that someone can help me. I am looking for a recipe “ California Date Loaf”. It used a Pillsbury yellow cake mix if I remember correctly. It would have been in cookbook between 1984 and 1994. Thanks to anyone who attempts to help me.

    Hi Debbi,
In your opinion, which of these cookbooks is the best? I’m interested in buying one

    • April 14, 2023 at 10:07 pm #

Hi Ivy- Trying to pick ONE Bake-Off book to buy is a very difficult task! Do you like more of the old-fashioned baking from scratch like cakes, cookies, breads, and desserts? Or quick and easy recipes? More modern and trendy recipes? The use of prepared products like crescent rolls, biscuits, cake mixes? They are all different and become more use of products in the more recent books, and the more old-fashioned home-style type recipes in the older books. Which do you enjoy cooking? Another idea is to buy some of the hardback books that feature many of the Bake-Off recipes in one big book such as “The Best of the Bake-Off” books. Many of them can be bought used for under ten dollars.

Just came across your amazing website. I’ve been trying to find the recipe for a chocolate cookie with maraschino cherries, a marshmallow on top and then the whole thing covered with chocolate icing. Does that sound at all familiar? My books started with your second row from top, far right to maybe third row far right, I think it would have been the mid 70s. I too got rid of too many cookbooks when I downsized. Boy, do I regret that! Thanks.

Hi Debbie – I think I may have found the recipe I was looking for. The blog included a picture of the recipe page. If I sent you the link, do you think you would recognize the format? I’m going to try the recipe after I go to the store this week.

I have been looking for a recipe I can’t remember the name, it was kind of a shortbread cookie but it had a coffee frosting on it. My mom had one of the cookbooks maybe 1980’s?? I’ve tried searching for Coffee Sticks or Coffee Bars…. They were so easy to make I think it may have even been frosting made with instant coffee??

Krisann- I will see if I can find this recipe. It sounds good! Thanks for writing.

Hi Debbie – Does this look like the right format/font for a Bake Off cook book? If so, I may have found my recipe. (If not, I guess I’ll try it anyway.) Note that the recipe listed differs from the cook book by not including baking soda. I would go with the cook book, though.

Hi Regina- I wish I knew which Bake-Off book the recipe was in because the format and font changed over the years, so I’m not 100% sure if the photo of the recipe was taken right from the book. But it was a heartfelt story and memory of the writer so I assume it’s the correct recipe. Also, Pillsbury sometimes updated Bake-Off recipes to fit modern times such as the Tunnel-of-Fudge Cake which they had to change because some of the ingredients were no longer made. I don’t know if this is the case of the cookie but make it and see if it tastes the same as you remember.

I’m making them right now. So far it seems to be right on – I made 2 testers and we ate them at lunch. Absolutely delicious! Thanks for your help – the thought that I might find it kept me looking!

Hello I am.looking for a recipe called ” French Bread Pizza Style” It is a yeast bread that has spaghetti/pizza sauce mixed right in it. It does not have pepperoni in it. Unfortunately, every time I tried to find it that’s what would come up, a recipe with pepperoni in it. I am not sure the year of the Bake Off and it was not a grand prize winner. The last time I made it was in the mid 80’s it might have been an honorable mention. I will appreciate any help I can get. Thank you in advance

Suzan, that sounds so good! I’ll see if I can find it for you. I think I’d like to make it too!
