Make Ahead Meals for a Busy Month

Marian Burros was ahead of her time with this cookbook from 1984.  She promotes healthy meals in about 30 minutes, and wrote with busy families in mind who do not want to resort to fast food.  The recipes are convenient and nutritious with a minimum of time and a maximum of taste.  I read that Rachael Ray has a new show where you blitz cook on a weekend and then have meals ready for the whole week.  This is exactly what Marian explains in this book.  She believes in cooking meals in advance, freezing them, then pulling out when ready to use.  Just to prove how much she wants to encourage you to cook in advance, the book has freezer stickers to use, which are included in the back of the book!

Marian Burros is an award-winning food critic of the New York Times, has won an Emmy, and has written numerous cookbooks, so you know the recipes in this book are marvelous and perfect for the busy holiday season ahead.  But do you know what it just as great on the back cover of the book??  Marian was the subject of an Al Hirschfeld drawing!

How cool is that?!
