Hello, September!

I have been gone for quite some time, and it’s good to be back home and waiting for autumn to appear.  The tips of the leaves on some trees are beginning to show their color and the air is cooler and breezy.  There will still be some warm days, but fall is right around the corner.

One of the reasons I have been gone is because our family celebrated my mom’s 90th birthday in California.  It was spectacular.  My mom looked beautiful, and the joy on her face in being honored by family and friends was priceless.

I hope you got your wish, Mom!
In addition to the cake, we decided to make some brownies since they are one of mom’s favorite treats.  Both were so good!  But we just couldn’t put them on a plate, so we formed a “90” into the pans and they were a big hit!  You can find the recipes for both brownies here (malted fudge) and here (butterscotch blondies) on my daughter Kristina’s website.
In addition to baking the brownies, Kristina had a special gift for her Grandma.  She made a video and presented it to mom at her party.  There was not a dry eye in the house.  See it for yourself –  and you will know why mom is so special, and so loved.
