Happy 7th Anniversary to the Culinary Cellar!

It is hard to believe it was seven years ago that I started this blog.  It does not seem that long and so much has happened!  The first blog of January 31st was also in celebration of my grandmother’s birthday.  The subject of the blog was about her Fanny Farmer cookbook that she owned while in college.  Read my very first blog here.  Just a few days ago, my first grandchild was born, and her middle name is Rose, my grandmother’s maiden name.

I have accumulated a lot more cookbooks and recipes since that first blog, but unfortunately the cellar is still not as I want it to be.  It needs an update, especially after I got some beautiful shelves built by my sister-in-law’s husband, Larry.  The cellar would not be the same without Larry’s help.  He also provided the pick-up truck to haul my beloved card catalog from the library!  Can you believe the library was throwing this treasure away?

Yes, those are all recipes.  Every drawer filled.  I have been collecting recipes for decades with nowhere to put them but boxes until the card catalog came along.

I have three more shelves like this one, but now I need more.  Larry, are you ready again?!

Now I can’t wait for my 8th anniversary so I can show you what will be new and improved!  I will be working with my friend Mary, who is an incredible decorator.  Watch for updates!

In the meantime, thank you to my loyal followers and new readers – I love you all!

Remember, one can never have enough cookbooks…

Happy anniversary to one of my all-time favorite blogs. I am not surprised you are 7 years strong. I am one of the few privileged to have seen the culinary cellar in person and it is a place filled with love not to mention cookbooks!

Lisa, I remember that day very well. You were actually the very first person to see the Culinary Cellar! As I mentioned before, I would love for you to come and visit and see it again – and of course- do some cooking and baking!

That is awesome! Congratulations! I love the card catalog!!

I was a fan of Sphere for years, so I especially love your articles about that.

Thank you, Barb! The card catalog is my favorite piece in the Culinary Cellar. I wish I had two! I’m so happy you found the Sphere posts. In all these seven years, the Sphere articles have introduced me to new friends around the world who love and remember the magazine and its great recipes, not to mention the most emails and private messages I receive are about Sphere! Thanks for being a fan.

Debbie, you really surprised me with your lovely reply to my post!! I’m having some down days here, waiting for the ominous loss of my brother, so you really gave me a lift! Thank you so much! By the way, do you have all your Sphere magazines now, or are you missing any?

I always reply to my lovely readers! Yes, I finally managed to gather every issue of Sphere, in large part due to some of my wonderful readers. It has made it possible for me to track down recipes for people who write and ask for recipes since they didn’t save their magazines, or they got lost or destroyed in a basement flood.
I am so sorry to hear about your brother, and hope you can find some peace and comfort in the days to come.
