Hello, everyone! It’s been an exciting couple weeks and I have lots to share with you, but I really missed writing the blog and hearing from my readers. I will probably spend the next couple days telling you about events from my trip and giving away LOTS of fun items this week!!
First of all, I mentioned that I was traveling to California to celebrate my mom’s 89th birthday. We had a wonderful time! My mom is nothing short of amazing. Here is the birthday girl!
We made her wear the crown, because she’s the birthday Queen!
Mom wanted these luscious lemon cupcakes for her cake, but not 89 candles! This was easier!
Mom wanted an iPad so that’s what she got! She is loving it! Like I said, my mom is amazing and still keeps up with everything going on in the world.
Before the birthday party began, Kristina and I went into town, which was Point Reyes Station, home of my favorite Point Reyes Blue Cheese. First place we headed to was the Cowgirl Creamery where the cheese is made:
After buying the cheese, we went to the Farmer’s Market. Everything was locally grown and organic.
And don’t think I didn’t buy a couple local cookbooks!! But I will write about those later, not to mention the many I found for future give-aways!
Speaking of cookbooks, here are the winners in the drawings for the last couple weeks when I was gone. Congratulations to Janice E. from North Carolina who won the Napa cookbook plus goodies I picked up at the Culinary Institute of America; Barbara P. from Italy, one of my world-wide readers, who won the Fish and Seafood cookbook; and Robin W. from Florida who won the vintage apron and two cookbooks.
Tomorrow and Friday, I will have multiple, exciting give-aways, so be sure and come back! Until then, I am so happy to be back and really missed you all!
Welcome back. It sounds like you had a great trip, and I can’t wait to read more about it.
Welcome back! I almost cried reading this because your mom reminds me of my late grandma. She would have loved and iPod, but she got cataracts and had to give up reading, which was her favorite thing.
The lemon cupcakes look good, too!
Oh, Anna- I’m so sorry about your grandma. Grandma’s are very special. I miss mine every day. She would have loved an iPad, too. I put Betty Crocker on my mom’s so she can download recipes, and I am going to add some other cooking sites, too. She called me last night and said she watched an old favorite 40’s movie on the iPad. Amazing what they can do!
It’s good to be back, my friend Ms. Zin! I look forward to chatting again!
If you are reading this, Mom, you look so beautiful with your crown!
