Old Swedish Glogg
1/2 cup dark raisins
2 prunes
2 cinnamon sticks
7 cardamom seeds
2 cloves
Peel of 1 orange
1 cup water
2 bottles (1 fifth each) tawny port
1-1/2 cups brandy
1 cup rum
1/4 cup sugar
Heat raisins, prunes, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, orange peel, and water in a large saucepan to boiling. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. Combine port, brandy, rum, and sugar; pour into fruit mixture. Heat to boiling. Pour into punch bowl; ignite; let burn for 15 seconds. Serve in punch cups. Makes 18 servings, 4 ounces each.
Hot Butter-Spiced Brandy
1 quart apple cider
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/3 cup honey
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
2 cups brandy
4 teaspoons butter
8 cinnamon sticks
Heat cider, lemon juice, honey, and pumpkin pie spice in medium saucepan to boiling. Pour 1/4 cup of the brandy into each of 8 mugs; add about 1/2 cup of the cider mixture into each mug. Top each with 1/2 teaspoon of the butter; garnish each with a cinnamon stick. Makes 8 servings, about 7 ounces each.
Tahitian Coconut
1 cup milk
1 cup Cream of Coconut
4 cups hot strong coffee
Heat milk and cream of coconut in medium size saucepan just to boiling. Stir in coffee. Serve in mugs. Makes 6 servings, about 8 ounces each.
Orange Liqueur Tea
3 orange-spice tea bags
4-1/2 cups boiling water
3/4 cup orange-flavored liqueur
6 lemon wedges
18 cloves
Steep tea bags in boiling water for 5 minutes; remove and discard tea bags. Stir in liqueur. Serve in mugs, garnishing each with a lemon wedge pierced with 3 cloves. Makes 6 servings, about 7 ounces each.
