Why I Started This Blog
I love cookbooks. I mean I really love them. I love to read them, treasure them, learn from them, and, of course, cook from them. To me, cookbooks take on a life all of their own. They are history, family, and memories. I have been collecting cookbooks and writing down treasured recipes of family, friends, and neighbors since about age twelve, which means I now own thousands of cookbooks, recipes, and clippings. Now I want to share them with you along with the many other culinary treasures of my cellar." - Debbie Vanni
Love your blog and photo of your Libertyville basement filled with a card catalogue and cookbooks. I’m in Detroit. Our son moved to Chicago 5 months ago. His GF is moving this month. He works in Lake Zurich, the other will work in Libertyville. Which town should they live in? Son drove through Libertyville yesterday and liked it. Mundelein seems to be more equidistant between the 2 towns. Any thoughts, Debbie, for these young mid-20 kids?
Having grown up in Libertyville my whole life, I definitely have to vote for my hometown! Plus, there is so much to do in downtown Libertyville on the weekends. Awesome restaurants, fun bars, and cute shops! Perfect for a young mid-20’s couple.
(P.S. If they decide to get married and have kids someday, the school system is the best!)
