I have been making these baked beans for years. The variety of beans makes it a little more interesting than the average baked beans! It’s really good and will feed a Memorial Day crowd.
6-Bean Bake
1 package (12 ounces) bacon, diced
1 large onion, diced
1 can each of cut green beans, lima beans, kidney beans, cut wax beans, and garbanzo beans, all drained (plus rinse kidney beans) (The cans can be from 14-1/2 ounces to 16 ounces, depending on the brand used)
1 can (31 ounces) pork and beans (your favorite brand)
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Cook the bacon in a large frying pan until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towel-lined plate. Discard all but 3 Tablespoons of drippings.
3. Add onion to drippings and saute until onion is softened. Remove from heat and stir in all remaining ingredients and mix well. Stir in cooked bacon.
4. Spoon the mixture into a shallow 3-quart baking dish. Bake, uncovered, for 50-60 minutes, or until bubbly. Makes 12 servings.
