Two events have happened that will make this Mother’s Day even more special for our family. Starting with Easter, Bill and I were invited to our daughter Kristina’s home for Easter dinner along with her in-laws, and of course husband Joe and their almost two-year-old, Eliza. As we all were seated, there was an egg in a holder on each of our plates. Kristina asked us to tap the eggs to reveal a surprise inside.
Look what was inside!
Yes! We will be grandparents again for the sixth time!
But the surprises didn’t stop there.
After a delicious dinner, Kristina brought out the Easter lamb cake for dessert. She explained this was not any ordinary lamb cake, it was a baby gender reveal lamb cake!
But again, this was not the only surprise. Kristina announced that she and husband Joe were also going to be surprised as they didn’t know the gender yet either! It seems that Kristina had baked the cake, but had a friend cut it open to add either a pink or blue reveal. Kristina left the room while the surprise was tucked inside, then returned to frost the outside without knowing what was inside.
We were all on pins and needles for the cake to be sliced.
It’s a GIRL!!
These sonograms were the first view of baby.
Needless to say, we are all so happy to have a new baby to add even more joy to our lives. Now I will have another little one to learn cooking from grandma!
Stay with me because yet another surprise was about to happen shortly after Easter on my birthday.
On the afternoon of my birthday I received a call from Kristina to ask if Bill could come over to their house and help Joe with something in the basement they were working on. Bill agreed and drove over. Just when I was starting to wonder what was taking a couple hours, I heard the garage door open.
I looked up and standing there was our daughter Kara and her new baby coming to surprise me! Unbeknownst to me, Kristina and Bill were not at Kristina’s house at all, but on their way to O’Hare to pick up my birthday surprise.
This is Kara’s 4th baby and first boy, Robert III, who they call Bob. Kara said Bob was a real trooper on his first plane ride and never cried. Instead, I was the one who cried when I saw them standing there.
I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday gift.
Eliza was completely taken with Bob and never left his side. She especially liked playing with his toes! We loved watching her interact with a new baby and know she will be a good big sister to her new sibling in the fall.
Wishing all the mom’s a very Happy Mother’s Day!!
