Welcome to the Libertyville Farmer’s Market! Our wonderful market opened yesterday and I couldn’t wait to get started on the seasonal produce and other fare for this week. The place was alive and kicking with excitement, even live music. People of all ages were out to discover what was available. It smelled great too.
You will find just about anything you want at our weekly market. The free wagons to use are waiting for you to fill up. Not only can you find tonight’s dinner, but you can surprise your kids with a puppy or kitty!
If you are entertaining this weekend, there is everything from appetizers to dessert!
Nana’s rum cakes are so good! How could anyone not like a rum cake from a sweet Nana? Go check out Nana’s website. She has all kinds of flavors and even rum balls!
And you need some flowers to decorate your table. How about some gorgeous peonies?
Or if you just feel like some bread and honey.
How about some old-fashioned and delicious apple treats from Apple Holler?
This is one of my favorite stops, the Prairie Farms Corps organic table! I bought some of those gorgeous garlic scapes to have included in dinner for tonight!
Here is one of the reasons why the market smells so good. It’s the fresh croissants from the French nuns at St. Roger Abbey. Everything they make is wonderful. And they really speak French, but unfortunately I don’t. But I can say croissant!
Tent after tent looks like this, filled with luscious fruits and vegetables. You could plan your entire week of meals at the market.
It really is like an outdoor grocery store. I haven’t even touched on what other items are available. So much more. I guess you all will just have to come and visit me and see for yourself!
This will be our first stop. I decided this the minute I saw the blazing fire in the brick oven. How does a breakfast pizza sound?
The breakfast pizza looked and smelled amazing. It’s large and enough to share or have leftovers. Look at all the other great pizzas too, in case you are at the market for lunch.
The oven is blazing and waiting for the pizzas!
Here’s the breakfast pizza right before going into the oven.
All of these great pizzas are from The Nomad Food Company. Follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram too! Really, go to all the sites – amazing photos and fun reading! Looking forward to those pizzas all summer!
So as I was leaving, I spotted this sign at one of my favorite tents:
Darn! I knew I was late making strawberry jam, but now I am down to the last week. Sigh.. So I had to buy a flat of those luscious looking berries and that means a jam session this weekend! That’s okay, but I did have about a billion other things to do. But who can pass up those berries. I only wish I could magically have Nomad Pizza to feed me while I’m making jam…
Nomad Pizza ! Best pizza around–have had it at the Green City Market in Lincoln Park. Glad Jarod Batson is bringing it up here to Libertyville–he is from Vernon Hills. Rick Bayless has praised his pizza–now that’s an endorsement ! Couldn’t go yesterday–will for sure next Thursday.
Aren’t we lucky to have Nomad at our market! Can’t miss with a Rick Bayless endorsement!
Agreed ! And such a nice young man. Our son and daughter-in-law had him do their “going-away” party last year when they moved to SF.
Next time I have a big backyard bash, I’m calling him!
One more thing–Glad to see you feature Nana’s Rum Cakes–have know them for years.
Great cakes; sweet people!
