The Best Valentine’s Gift Ever

Almost two weeks ago my husband Bill experienced some serious loss of vision and a terrible headache.  After many tests it was confirmed he had a stroke behind his right eye, explaining the vision loss.  Thank goodness, he had no speech or paralysis problems.  As you can imagine it was incredibly scary for Bill, me, Kristina, and Kara, as well as all our family members and concerned friends.

We went back and forth with options from the (incredible) doctors who at first thought he would need surgery to repair the site of the problem and we were all prepared for a delicate and risky surgery and possibly extensive hospital stay.  The vascular surgeon ultimately decided it was too risky and continued on an alternative plan.

I am happy to say Bill is home now, our girls have come to offer help and comfort, and Bill’s vision has  returned and he even has been approved after testing to start driving again.  The doctor was amazed that his sight returned so quickly.  We attribute that to all the prayers and deep concern sent from everyone.  We thank God and the doctors for keeping Bill with us.  He still has many follow-up appointments to come and is still a little tired, but he is here with us on this day of love.  Who needs flowers or chocolate? Not me.  I have the best Valentine’s gift.  We all love you, sweetheart.
