I am missing my mom so much this Christmas. Her favorite dessert was ice cream. At Christmas during my childhood, she always would bring home Pink Peppermint flavor. I was surprised when I started to look for it the other day, all I could find was vanilla ice cream with some crushed peppermints. My husband finally found the pink version (Thanks, Oberweis!)
I scooped it up and took a mini candy cane and placed it in the bowl. The first bite took me to memories of eating the ice cream with my mom, who I miss more than I can say. But she’s always with me, even with a bowl of ice cream.
Sweet memories of love & joy❤️
Absolutely, Kim. The best kind of memories.
I LOVE PEPPERMINT ICE CREAM!
Dawn- Let’s hear it for Pink Peppermint Ice Cream!
Thank you for sharing this, I feel the same since Mum passed away. This year I got Mum’s cookbook out and made one of her Christmas recipes, portuguese fritters called ” Coscorões”, the smell and taste brought her and our Christmas together back. Keep bringing pink ice cream home.
Ana, thank you for sharing the lovely memory of your mom’s special recipe. It’s amazing how aromas and tastes take us right back to our mothers and bring such comfort to our hearts that miss them so much.
I love this memory, Debbie. Thank you for sharing it.
Memories are both sweet and painful, I think. After my dad died, I heard the adage that grief is the price of love. I think it’s true.
(I also love pink peppermint ice cream. It’s a different flavor than vanilla w peppermint pieces.)
You are so right, Denise. I’m so sorry for the loss of your dad. My dad died almost 41 years ago, yet any time I have Wheaties cereal for breakfast, I slice in a banana just as he did. However, I did not have his desire to eat sardine sandwiches, but still think of him whenever I see them on store shelves! Little memories are the best. I agree about the peppermint ice cream that is just vanilla with mint pieces. Not the same as the pink!
